WCC will share insights at International Mission Partnership Consultation in Finland

Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay, World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary, and Rev. Dr Kuzipa Nalwamba, WCC programme director for Unity, Mission, and Ecumenical Formation, will share insights during the International Mission Partnership Consultation in Finland, to be held 26-30 August.  Students of GETI 2018 planted trees as part of a Service Learning day in their study programme. The trees mark a symbol of unity, and of working together for a greener planet, and a sustainable future.  Photo: Albin Hillert/WCC 21 August 2024 An international event of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, the consultation was last held in 2014 in Järvenpää, Finland.  The gathering will host representatives from the church’s partner organizations around the world from countries such as Japan, Taiwan, Angola, Cambodia, and Colombia. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear updates from more than 40 partner churches and organizations, share experiences, and learn together about contemporary mission work and available tools. The theme of the meeting is “Your Will Be Done – Church and Mission in Changing Landscapes.” Pillay will present a keynote speech reflecting on the consultation theme.  Nalwamba will present a lecture entitled “Creation in Changing Landscapes,” reflecting on how environmental crises are not just scientific or political issues but are deeply theological concerns.
