Religion News Service Audio - A new podcast comes to RNS Audio! 🎧

When land isn’t just land…

Sunday, May 12

When it’s also belonging.

Spring definitely sprang this week, and along with it a fresh crop of blooming podcasts to carry you into the sunshine!

Another fresh podcast, “Complexified” has come to RNS Audio this week!

A soulful, thoughtful podcast from Rev. Amanda Henderson, Director of the Institute for Religion, Politics, and Culture at Iliff School of Theology. The first of her 8-part series on land dropped this week, offering a brilliant look at the many, many ways land, people, politics, and religion have defined so much of what America was – and is. Definitely an exciting new addition to the RNS Audio landscape!

Money, Meet Meaning” tackles parenting your kids on money through a religious, even devotional lens. Tom and Amber welcome Reza Aslan and Jessica Jackley to share their thoughts. If you don’t know Reza or Jessica, this couple covers every base of this conversation. Reza’s a bestselling author and renowned scholar of world religions and a Muslim, Jessica’s an entrepreneur and investor, and founder of Kiva, and Christian; together they're raising four kids. Respect.

Potpourri for listeners of “The State Of Belief” this week, as host Paul Brandeis Raushenbush interviews Brian McLaren, an esteemed author and former pastor, to discuss his latest book, "Life After Doom: Wisdom and Courage for a World Falling Apart.” Also joining Paul this week: Maureen O'Leary of Interfaith Alliance, and Frankie Leigh of Pride Peacebuilders, to discuss the Faith for Pride initiative and the crucial role of faith communities in supporting LGBTQ equality and combating hate at Pride events.

And while the breath of spring is upon us, let us take a minute to look at the pastors in our lives that are feeling the burn. The burn of straight up burnout. Rich Villodas, the 16-year pastor of a fantastically diverse church in Queens talks with “Saved By The City’s” Katelyn and Roxy about what pastors have been up against, and how congregants can better support their leaders.

Enjoy!

Host Amanda Henderson and Amy Erickson dive into the complex relationship between land ownership and belonging in the US, drawing on biblical interpretations.
Money, parenting, religion...oh my! Any one of these is tricky to navigate on its own. But how do we weave them all together?
Paul Brandeis Raushenbush interviews Brian McLaren on the influence of apocalyptic thinking on responses to global crises, such as climate change.
Rich Villodas shares the unique pressures pastors face today and how congregants can offer true support.
