Gathering Magazine Celebrates 50 Years

Gathering magazine is now 50 years old! This beloved United Church publication is shared online at GatheringWorship.ca and in print around the world.

Gathering is used in United Churches and other denominations across Canada, as well as regularly in five other countries: the United States, Bermuda, Great Britain, New Zealand, and Australia. We have also had subscribers from Japan, Nicaragua, Guyana, the Philippines, Ireland, Jamaica, and Thailand.

Gathering has been, and always will be, a collection of worship resources by worship leaders who have developed these materials for use in their own congregation,” says the Rev. Susan Lukey, Gathering editor, “Gathering only works because people share what they are creating.”

Mission and Service Stories: Learning about God's Love

Person with a pride flag wrapped around their shoulders holding a sign that reads: Love is never wrong.

Same-sex attraction is a crime in 71 countries, and 11 of them have the death penalty. The stories people share after they escape these repressive governments clearly show the risks LGBTQAI+ people face. Mission and Service brings together church leaders in foreign countries to discover how we can help make the church a place of liberation and life for sexual and gender minorities in those places.

Thank you for helping to protect sexual and gender minorities. You are saving lives and changing views around the world!
