The Struggle for Sanctuary: One-Year Anniversary Update
On November 8, 2021, an auspicious, autumnal Monday, the Rodriguez-Flores family moved into the chapel space at Plymouth-Trinity United Church in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Exactly one year later and the Rodriguez-Flores family remains confined within the church. Read their story in English or French and find out how you can help.

Deadline for Mission & Service Transfers Changed to January 15
Beginning in January 2023, the deadline for Mission & Service transfers will be January 15. That means that pastoral charges need to make their final 2022 Mission & Service transfer by January 15, 2023.
We are making this change because it will improve our accountability, accuracy, and transparency when reporting back to you on annual results. We also expect that January 15 is closer to when the majority of communities of faith have finalized―or nearly finalized―their year-end financial statements.
If you have questions or need support to set up electronic transfers, please contact Nicole Chicote at 1-800-268-3781 x3072 or nchicote@united-church.ca.

Leadership Counts Survey Two recent news stories offer emerging trends about United Church of Canada ministry personnel and national committee members. The data comes from Leadership Counts—a voluntary survey about identities that was launched in November 2021. The survey invites responses based on several commitments to equity and self-determination that the United Church has made. It also provides opportunities for people to voluntarily share more about how they name their cultures, languages, genders, orientations, and disabilities.
If you are United Church ministry personnel, a General Council Commissioner, or currently serving on a national committee, you can log in to ChurchHub.ca and select the new “My Identity Data” tile. From there, you can either complete the survey or update your data any time after you have completed the survey.
