Weekly Outlook - Breaking unification commission news πŸ—ž️

Dear readers,

The idea of reparations in the United States has a long and complex history, stretching back to the 1700s. Despite numerous resolutions and discussions — both within denominational spaces and in the halls of Congress — a national effort to address reparatory justice for the descendants of those kidnapped, enslaved and displaced has yet to be realized.

The September issue of the Presbyterian Outlook took a deep dive into the act of repair and the steps the PC(USA) is taking to mend the breach. I'd love for you join us as we continue the conversation.

Join Outlook Editor Teri McDowell Ott for a 90-minute webinar featuring a panel of Presbyterian leaders, on November 7, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Panelists include:

  • Jermaine Ross-Allam, the inaugural director of the Center for the Repair of Historical Harms for the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
  • William Yoo, Columbia Theological Seminary professor and author of What Kind of Christianity: A History of Slavery and Anti-Black Racism in the Presbyterian Church
  • Larissa Kwong Abazia, executive director of NEXT Church, a network of leaders seeking collaboration, resiliency, and creativity for transformation.
  • Chris Dela Cruz, director of youth initiatives of the Oregon-based Together Lab, which activates, organizes and accompanies teams of everyday people in Oregon to build resilient communities.

Their conversation will be followed by a Q&A with those who join live.

This webinar is a pay-what-you-can format. However, you must "purchase" a ticket through our store to get the link! We will email out the recording to everyone who registers. Learn more.
