In the days since Hurricane Helene left its mark on western North Carolina, we have heard many concerns from individuals regarding future conferences. Specifically, several individuals have inquired about plans for our 2025 youth and young adult conferences, all of which were originally slated to open registration this month.
While recovery efforts in the area remain ongoing, and let us be clear, there is still much work to be done both in Montreat and in neighboring communities, we wanted to take a moment to address these and other concerns related to programming and events at Montreat Conference Center.
We plan on hosting College Conference @ Montreat, The Manna Retreat, Montreat Youth Conference, and Montreat Middle School Conference all as originally scheduled. To aid in preparing for these events, we have adjusted the registration opening dates accordingly:
- College Conference @ Montreat will open at 10:00 am EDT on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
- Montreat Youth Conference and Middle School Conference will open at 10:00 am EDT on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
- The Manna Retreat will open at 10:00 am EDT on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.
By registering for one of these events, you help to ensure the continued success of Montreat Conference Center programs as we recover from the effects of Helene. The support of all those who love Montreat has been vital and will continue to be vital in the weeks and months to come. Registering for a conference is just one avenue through which you can show your support. And, for those who are eager to lend a helping hand, we also anticipate that there will be opportunities for optional local mission work at these events when appropriate. Regarding Upcoming Events for Adults We will be in touch soon to confirm availability with those who are registered for remaining 2024 Road Scholar programs or have reservations for Thanksgiving in Montreat. Our hope is that we will be able to honor as many of these reservations as possible, but we will know more as the situation continues to progress. Our goal is to contact anyone with a reservation within 15 days of their arrival date to confirm or cancel reservations. The Montreat Family Campground will be closed for the remainder of the 2024 season and all reservations are cancelled. Once able, we will be working to process refunds. For questions regarding adult conferences or programs at Montreat, please reach out to our registrar’s office at central@montreat.org. Scheduled Retreats or Guest Group Rentals At this time, we are currently unable to confirm our ability to host individuals and guest groups with reservations between October 27 and December 31. We anticipate that we will be able to host such events as contracted, but we are also aware that situations may change as further damage assessments and repairs are made to lodges and meeting spaces. We will be in touch within 15 days of each group’s arrival date to confirm availability, make necessary changes, or cancel reservations.
