UC National News - 1-8 May 2020 - What Sustains Us, Federal COVID response failing church agencies and more

UCA leaders share hope amid the COVID-19 crisis 

President Deidre Palmer and the Moderators of the six UCA Synods have released a seven-day devotional resource for the Church. What Sustains Us a is collective reflection on faith and spiritual practice, shared with love and hope.  The President is also inviting UCA members to share about how their faith is sustaining them.
Federal COVID-19 response measures failing church community services

Uniting Church agencies have joined other major not-for-profit providers in a battle to get Federal Government COVID-19 support applied to their work in the community sector.
This Sunday Rev. James Aaron from North Ryde Community Church in Sydney will lead worship via the Assembly Facebook page at 10am (AEST). James will be reflecting on Jesus the Good Shepherd. There'll be the option to take part in a remembrance meal for which you will need bread and juice or wine.
Leaders of nine UCA National Conferences have shared the challenges and rewards of their ministry through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Together in spirit

Muslims across the world have entered Ramadan, a month dedicated to fasting, prayer and acts of charity. Register now for our annual UCA/Affinity Iftar meal which will take place online from 4.50pm AEST on Weds 13 May. 
UCA members are being encouraged to support school children taking part in the latest School Strike 4 Climate.  

UAICC Update

There are some major changes in the UAICC national leadership.

President's Conference to go ahead

Dr Deidre Palmer has announced that her 2020 President’s Conference will go ahead in Adelaide from 2-5 October, as originally scheduled.

From Monday 11 May 2020 the Assembly office will move from Level 10, 222 Pitt St Sydney to 262 Pitt St.
