Join us on June 25, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. EDT for an online prayer vigil for peace on the Korean Peninsula and for a world free from war and nuclear weapons. The event will be livestreamed on The United Church of Canada's YouTube channel, where you will be able to watch as well as interact through the chat function.

Let others know you’ll be joining on social media; download a shareable event poster, use the hashtags #LightOfPeaceForKorea, #LightOfPeace, #UCCan, and #WCC, and be sure to tag the United Church on Facebook and Twitter.

This special event links the United Church with the World Council of Churches' global prayer campaign A Light of Peace, inspired by United Church partners in Korea.

“Seize the Moment” for a Universal Basic Income in Canada

Moderator Richard Bott, as part of a growing call, is urging the Canadian government to “seize the moment” offered by COVID-19 relief programs and move forward with developing and implementing a Universal Basic Income (UBI) program.

The Moderator notes that a UBI program should preserve human dignity rather than create stigma, and remove discriminatory barriers. Read the full statement online.

Camps Find Ways to Build Community amid Physical Distancing

United Church outdoor/camping ministries reach 20,000 children and youth each year. Losing the in-person connections has been heartbreaking, especially for those from vulnerable homes and for LGBTQIA+ and Two-Spirit youth.

However, staff and volunteers from United Church outdoor/camping ministries are committed to working on new ways to bring the spirit of camp to campers this summer. Learn more about how the joy of camp will continue despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
