and other international organizations in Geneva, to receive a medal on behalf of the president of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the WCC’s contribution to interreligious dialogue and cooperation. During a meeting held at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Grand-Saconnex on 18 December, several issues were discussed, with particular attention to the role of religions as agents of peace through religious leaders, religious communities, and civil society. Other issues of concern to the WCC were also discussed, such as human rights, disarmament, earth and climate justice, the role of education for religious leaders, and interreligious formation. Noting that the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions is a well-known interreligious forum that has gathered global religious, cultural, and political leaders every three years in Astana, Kazakhstan, Pillay expressed his hope for constructive interaction between Kazakhstan and the World Council of Churches on interreligious understanding and cooperation. The WCC’s work on interreligious relations and dialogue spans communities of faith across the world in promoting sustainable relations between Christians and neighbors of other faiths, primarily through multilateral and bilateral dialogue. The WCC’s interreligious dialogue is an expression of the worldwide ecumenical fellowship, as the WCC calls on people of good will from all faiths to walk together, viewing their common life, their journey of faith, as a part of a Pilgrimage of Justice, Reconciliation, and Unity.
