Stand with Filipino Human Rights Defenders!

The United Church is urging the Canadian government to support peace efforts in the Philippines. A letter has been sent to Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly asking Canada to:

  • publicly support restarting peace talks between the Philippine government and rebels
  • review government military and financial aid to the Philippines to ensure it's not used for human rights abuses
  • stop talks on a military agreement and halt military cooperation until the Philippines improves its human rights record

We invite you to sign the petition to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau calling for an end to Canada’s military support for the Marcos régime. By signing, you join a growing interfaith and global movement calling for accountability, the repeal of harmful policies, and the protection of human rights defenders.

Join the movement for peace and justice. Read the full news story to learn more and take action together.

Mission and Service: Support Programs that Keep Children Safe, Healthy, and Cared For!

Do you love Nativity scenes as much as we do? As we admire our Nativity sets, it’s easy to forget that Jesus’ birth wasn’t as serene as we imagine. Born in a barn and fleeing danger soon after, his story mirrors the struggles of many children today.

Every day, 1,000 children are born as refugees.

In Canada, 1.8 million children go to school hungry. This Christmas, you can help. Your gift to Mission and Service supports programs that keep children safe, healthy, and cared for—here in Canada and around the world.

Donate now to turn your compassion into action.

When you see Baby Jesus in your Nativity, think of a child in need—and how you can make a difference.
