There was a time when the season Advent echoed that of Lent, encompassing a full 40 days in preparing for the birth of Christ. Presbyterians Today magazine embraces this tradition, inviting you to begin your Advent journey earlier and observe a Celtic Advent. Starting on Nov. 15, the Rev. Dr. Maureen Paterson, associate pastor at the Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church in New Jersey, explores Celtic traditions and introduces you to the saints who modeled trust in God. She anchors her writing in a Celtic prayer, "The Blessing of the Kindling," encouraging us all this season to kindle the flames of love in our lives — love of friend, family and foe.

“Kindling the Flame of Love: A Celtic Advent Devotional” will be available online only at pcusa.info/celticadvent beginning October 28.
