Alongside Uniting Church President Rev Charissa Suli, voices from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific have united to send a message for this year's 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence. Turning to the 2025 global theme, 'End digital violence against all women and girls', the message was filmed at the 2025 President's Conference on the island of Tongatapu, Tonga. We are particularly grateful for the involvement of the incredible women running the Women and Children Crisis Centre in Nuku'alofa, which supports women and girls across all the islands of Tonga. The 16 Days of Activism is a global UN Women-led campaign begins on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. As the Uniting Church we affirm that gender-based violence, like all violence, is against the will of God. We are committed to advocating for a Church and world where all may flourish in equality, safety and respect. |
