World Evangelical Alliance - Will you join us in prayer for our persecuted brothers and sisters?

It’s an uncomfortable fact to be reminded about.

About 1 in every 8 believers experiences suffering or outright persecution for their faith. And the number is growing.

The Bible tells us that we should pray for those who are mistreated as if we ourselves are mistreated and that if one member of the body suffers, we all suffer.

The WEA Global Advocacy team works hard all year long intervening on behalf of Evangelical family members who have been jailed, harassed, or discriminated against because of their faith. We raise these violations with world leaders, governing bodies, and other authorities. It’s hard work. We’re humbled by the positive outcomes that are achieved. Pastors are released from prison. Churches are re-opened. Discriminatory laws are reversed.

We also call the Church to prayer. The WEA International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted has become a significant annual event in the life of the Church. This year it’s happening on November 6th and 13th under the theme “Stand Firm.”

I’m writing to ask if you would join us on one of those days (or both) in lifting up our suffering brothers and sisters – praying for their release, safety and hope.

We have resources you can download to guide your prayers and share with your friends, church congregation or on social media.

Our hope is that this year – as persecution against Christians increases – our collective prayers will increase ever more.
