The Call and Vision of The United Church of Canada

Deep Spirituality, Bold Discipleship, Daring Justice

Did you participate in the Moderator’s Town Halls, Indigenous Church Circles, or Focus Groups on Strategic Planning in spring 2021? The result is The United Church of Canada’s new Call and Vision:

Call: Deep Spirituality. Bold Discipleship. Daring Justice.

Vision: Called by God, as disciples of Jesus, The United Church of Canada seeks to be a bold, connected, evolving church of diverse, courageous, hope-filled communities united in deep spirituality, inspiring worship, and daring justice.

We invite your community of faith to bring these words to life in a worship servicePlease share what you’re doing by e-mail with the name of your community of faith, the date of the service, and the name of a contact person so we can follow up to hear more.

Between September 12 and 23, 2022, on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn), we will be having a conversation across the church focused on our Call and Vision. Please join in using #deepbolddaring—and blessings on being bold disciples!

Human Rights and Accountability Is Non-Negotiable

Human Rights and Accountability: Non-Negotiable banner

Did you know that the Canadian government is considering implementing the Modern Slavery Act (Bill S-211)?

This sounds like a good step forward, but in reality, the bill falls far short of what The United Church of Canada and all the members of the Canadian Network on Corporate Accountability (CNCA) want to see happen. The proposal includes voluntary measures that will not hold corporations to account in any meaningful ways.  All 40 CNCA members are encouraging their networks to speak with MPs and encourage them to seriously consider the private members bills that were tabled in March. You can read more and Take Action Here! To learn more about the broader issues, visit our updated Mining and Resource Extraction webpage

End Racism. Build Peace.

It seems there’s a day set aside for everything under the sun: World Nerd Day, Pistachio Day, and Squirrel Appreciation Day, just to name a few. There are so many special days that we can become immune to them. But when September 21 rolls around every year, it’s important to tune in. Here’s why.
