E-ssentials: WCC Assembly Updates, Gender Justice, and more!

World Council of Churches Assembly

The 11th Assembly of the World Council of Churches (WCC) is about to begin in Karlsruhe, Germany. The Assembly, a meeting of the WCC’s highest governing body, takes place August 31–September 8, with the theme “Christ's Love Moves the World to Reconciliation and Unity.” United Church of Canada delegates, selected through the church’s nominations process, will share in prayer and celebration, while participating in crucial decision making. Several members of the delegation have leading roles in the Assembly. You can follow the livestream of the Assembly, and watch The United Church of Canada Facebook page and our other social channels for updates from delegation members, video interviews, and more.

A Church with an Extraordinary View

The mountains are reflected in the window of Waterton United Church.

Canadian churches grace unique places: restaurants, store fronts, even movie theatres. Perhaps the most serene of all settings, though, is a national park. Situated in the heart of Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta, a special United Church witnesses in a unique way to the majesty of God.
