The Healing Fund, established in 1994, is a grant that supports healing initiatives in Indigenous communities to address the ongoing impacts of the residential school system. If your First Nation community, programs, youth/Elders groups, or communities of faith have project ideas on ways of healing, mending, restoring, or celebrating, we invite you to our Healing Fund Open House on Thursday, August 18, 2022, to learn how you can apply for grant of up to $15,000 to create healing, culture, and/or language projects.

Second Annual Orange Shirt Day Giveaway

Second Annual Orange Shirt Day Giveaway

Last year, Indigenous Ministries and Justice held an Orange Shirt Giveaway and this year the tradition continues with a giveaway of 40 “Every Child Matters” flags. Proceeds will go to the Save the Evidence campaign to preserve the Mohawk Institute in Brantford.

To enter the giveaway please send your name, full mailing address, and phone number to General-IMJ@united-church.ca by 12:00 p.m. EDT Friday, August 26. The draw will take place on Tuesday, August 30, 
at 12:00 p.m. EDT in a live event on our Indigenous Ministries Facebook page.

Delegation to World Council of Churches Assembly

Members of the delegation to the World Council of Churches Assembly

A diverse delegation of United Church people will be attending the World Council of Churches (WCC) Assembly this September in Karlsruhe, Germany. The Assembly, a meeting of the WCC’s highest governing body, will take place August 31–September 8 under the theme “Christ's Love Moves the World to Reconciliation and Unity.” Official United Church of Canada delegates, selected through the church’s nominations process, will share in prayer and celebration, while participating in crucial decision making. Find out more.

Thursdays in Black Canada Webinar


Thursdays in Black with Danielle Strickland and Sage Lacerte and David Stevenson

On Tuesday, September 20, 2022, join us for Thursdays in Black: Working Together to End Gender-based Violence in Canada, an online conversation with spiritual justice advocate Danielle Strickland and Sage Lacerte and David Stevenson from the Moose Hide Campaign. We will discuss how gender-based violence is a critical issue affecting our communities and ways local action can work to stop violence against women in Canada.

Camp Instills Confidence

Lindsay Vautour, the United Church’s Engagement and Stewardship Associate, started attending a United Church camp at the tender age of five. There, she also met lifelong friends and gained job skills as a counsellor, but she says it helped chart a course that eventually led her to work for The United Church of Canada.

Utilizing 40 daily reflections, reflection prompts with space to journal, and additional commentary from diverse contributors, this resource equips readers to engage questions of calling, purpose, and decision-making.

Although directed at young adults, My Daily Discoverment will inspire readers of all ages to refocus, reimagine, and renew their lives.
