It was the first meeting after the WCC 11th Assembly in Karlsruhe in 2022, and after the former Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue transitioned into a dicastery. “During the meeting the staff reiterated the importance of engaging in interreligious dialogue ecumenically, more so in these challenging times,” reads the communique. Those gathered shared information about activities in the field of interreligious dialogue in 2022, and the prospect of the future joint commitment. “The meeting underlined the vital role of interreligious dialogue to transform situations of conflict and foster peace, to empower young people as well as women in spaces of interreligious collaboration, to address violations of human rights together, and to highlight the importance of interreligious solidarity with a spirituality of dialogue,” reads the communique. “The joint staff meeting also discussed steps toward the 50th anniversary of collaboration in 2027 and resolved to take forward the legacy of working together with greater passion and commitment.” |
