E-ssentials: Appeal for Ukraine, GC44 Learning Sessions, and more.

Ukraine Appeal

The invasion of Ukraine is costing precious lives and creating a humanitarian crisis as people flee to safety. Over a million people, displaced from their homes, are seeking refuge in neighbouring countries. Many have lost friends, loved ones, and property; struggle to meet their basic needs; and face an uncertain future. United Church Mission & Service partners are responding to the rapidly unfolding crisis—visit our website to find out how you can show your support and make a gift.

GC44 Learning Session

You are invited to join us for the first of several Learning Sessions on March 9 at 7:00 p.m. ET. In the first session, Nurture Common Good, we will be discussing some proposals related to community of faith voting, salary and pension equity, relationships with the francophone church, and future directions with the Indigenous church. Anyone can watch GC44 sessions live or recorded on The United Church of Canada's YouTube ChannelFind out more.

Get Public. Intentional. Explicit.

March 14 is PIE Day, and in church circles it has nothing to do with math. PIE is short for public, intentional, and explicit―the standards we hold ourselves to when we seek to live into being affirming, welcoming, and inclusive people and communities. Your gifts through Mission & Service sustain life-transforming advocacy and education work, including supporting refugees fleeing for their lives because they identify as Two-Spirit and LGBTQQIA+, safe shelters, community awareness education, human rights programs, and safe spaces. Find out more.

We also encourage you to check out the PIE Day worship resources, and watch the Moderator's video.

Debunking Nutrition Myths

LifeSpeak
There is so much conflicting information on nutrition circulating on the Internet, social media in particular, and it is not easy to decipher what is true. Some of us end up focusing on the myths that are linked to weight loss. However, eating healthy goes beyond that—it is important for our heart and bone health, and much more. In this month’s video series, LifeSpeak’s expert Toby Amidor will talk about debunking nutrition myths.

On March 16 at 12:00 p.m. ET the Ask the Expert Web chat by Nishta Saxena addresses how to incorporate eating well into your lifestyle. Check out your LifeSpeak platform now! Log in using the Group Account option. The password is "wellness".
