October 12 is the launch of the 40 Days of Engagement on Anti-Racism program! Join us for the first livestream on Tuesday, October 12 at 7:00 p.m. ET. Paul Douglas Walfall will be presenting on "Becoming an Anti-Racist Disciple." This event will be livestreamed on both Zoom and Facebook Live. Sign up today to reserve your spot.

There will be a 40 Days livestream event every Tuesday, between October 12–November 26, with a variety of presenters and topics. These sessions will also be recorded and available for later viewing.

Each day from Tuesday, October 12 to Friday, November 26 (with the exception of Sundays) there will be a new reflection on anti-racism, as well as activities suitable for adults and children. These activities can be done alone, as a family, or in groups. Find out more, and sign up for the newsletter for regular updates!

This is an excellent opportunity to delve deeply into anti-racism work with this 40-day time of learning, reflection, and advocacy with The United Church of Canada.

Thanksgiving Appeal

One in nine people around the world will go to bed hungry tonight. You can help! This Thanksgiving, support those who are hungry by making a gift through Mission & Service. Your generosity not only provides food in emergency situations, it also transforms families and communities for generations. Check out Emmanuel Baya’s amazing story.

Mastering Mental Health

Scrabble tiles spelling out the words "self care".

Mastering mental health takes work, but working towards becoming resilient and adaptable can help us navigate and manage stressful situations from spiraling out of control. Throughout this pandemic, our mental health has been put to the test. We've been so busy worrying about our family, friends, and work that we haven't always had the energy to take care of ourselves, but it's important that we do.

Find spiritually minded mental health resources at the United Church Bookstore in their Health and Wellness collection, with books focusing on depression, burnout, loss, and faith-based strategies for healing.

LifeSpeak
Top mental health experts provide you with practical resources, strategies, and tools for building a stable, healthy mindset—no matter what life throws your way—with their Mastering Mental Health campaign. It is offered in three parts: yourself, your family, and your workplace. Log in using the Group Account option. The password is "wellness". Join the Ask the Expert webchat with Janna Comrie, registered psychotherapist, on October 13, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. ET. The French version will be held by Dr. Amélie Seidah on October 14 at 12:00 p.m. ET.

LifeWorks
LifeWorks (formerly Morneau Shepell) launched a microsite on their Heartbeat Hub earlier in the year to build your self-care toolkit. In this microsite, you can explore why self-care should be part of your routine and how to work it into your daily life, no matter the situation.

WorkHealthLife offers numerous articles on mental health under their Health & Well-being tab. There is also a section that provides COVID-19 resources. Enter The United Church of Canada in the search box to gain access to the site.

Your Generosity Matters: Dignity Is on the Menu

Many of us don’t have to stand in line for every single meal with a tray in hand. That’s why special dinners like Café Cinq-Zero-Sept, hosted by Ottawa-based Mission & Service partner Centre 507, are so important. Read the story to find out more.
