UC National News 28 April-4 May - Our DNA, Prayers for India, Aged Care Budget Priority, Safety for all Refugees and more

10 things that make up the DNA of the UCA

This week we begin sharing stories about Identity in the Uniting Church. As one of the four key pillars guiding the Strategic Plan of the Assembly, what makes us who we are as the Uniting Church? What is our contribution to being God's people in the world?

UCA Theologian and blogger Rev Dr John Squires has outlined 10 distinct identity markers of the Uniting Church. What do you say is part of our DNA?

Prayers for India

UnitingWorld shares an update from our church partners in India where the rapid escalation of COVID-19 cases is devastating the country. Our partners are responding to the outbreak at the community level.

President's Conference 2021

People from every state and Synod are now preparing to travel to the President's Conference, Called by God 2, which begins tomorrow in Adelaide. Read what our speakers are most excited about and follow along using #calledbygoduca through the weekend.

A safe home for all refugees

What's in a number? Rob Floyd, Chairperson of the Australian Churches Refugee Taskforce, takes a look at the number of people who came to Australia by boat seeking safety and, staggeringly, eight years later remain trapped in an unjust system. More than a number, each one seeks hope for the future.

Lets make Aged Care a priority

In less than two weeks, the Federal Government will hand down the 2021-22 Budget, including it’s response to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. The UnitingCare aged care network is one of the largest networks of providers nationally. UnitingCare Australia is urging all UCA members to tell the Government you care about aged care by signing the petition in support of comprehensive reform.

Adding our voice

Ideas and concerns from across the Uniting Church have formed part of a UCA submission to the Australian Government as part of final consultations towards a nationwide strategy to prevent child abuse.
