LIFE TEAM MINISTRY

What About Your Church?
By Dr. Carol Fouse, Churches for Life Executive Director

Is your church part of the 7% of protestant churches who have a life ministry? That’s it – 7% of “non-mainline” protestant churches (that’s the evangelical churches) have life ministry in their churches according to the response of pastors in a survey conducted by Barna Group. When asked how often they talked about abortion in church, 48% of “non-mainline” pastors responded that they had addressed the pro-life message at least once within the last 6 months with an additional 25% in the past year. While that is a step in the right direction, it is simply not enough to adequately prepare the people in the church to think about life issues from a biblical, gospel-centered perspective. A consistent diet of the truth of God’s Word is necessary to confront the loud voice of our culture.
Biking for Babies

Looking for a fun and active way minister and support your prolife convictions?

For ten years Biking for Babies has equipped young adults (aged 18-35) in spiritual formation, as missionaries able to articulate the prolife position, partner with pregnancy centers and raise funds through an annual 2500-mile National Ride biking event followed by a Celebration of Life.

This year’s National Ride on July 11-18 was followed by a virtual Celebration of Life due to Covid 19 restrictions. Next year’s ride has four regional routes in the US and is scheduled for July 13-17,2021. Applications for 2021 missionaries will open in October.  There are roles available for missionary bikers and various support tasks.

FAIR OAKS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH PEN PAL PROGRAM
FOPC’s Champions of Life Ministry is launching a new project to reach out to those living in isolation due to the Covid-19 stay-at-home order that has kept so many inside for months. Even as many are returning to work and shopping, people in long-term care facilities remain confined to their personal rooms. The Champions of Life ministry team has a creative solution to care for them! We are recruiting volunteers to become Pen Pals for those in our own church family and beyond who are living in isolation. Check out this project at https://fairoaks.church/penpal
