CJM, Partners Host 'Witness for Creation Justice' Public Events

Participants at the Washington, DC event. Photo: Creation Justice Ministries

Throughout the Season of Creation, Creation Justice Ministries gathered with their partners across the country for Witness for Creation Justice public events. At each of these public prayer services, they proclaimed — drawing on the words of the Prophet Isaiah — that God’s planet and people deserve justice, protection, and peace.

These gatherings were an expression of the kind of public theology that supporters work day in and day out to cultivate: a politics rooted in connection with creation, love of neighbor, and the pursuit of justice for all of God’s creation and people.

The National Council of Churches was among the partners offering CJM support in planning the gatherings. Other partners were: A Rocha USA, African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME), the Alliance of Baptists, Anabaptist Climate Collaborative, Arizona Interfaith Power and Light, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA), General Board of Church and Society, Georgia Interfaith Power and Light, Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns, Mennonite Central Committee, Michigan Interfaith Power and Light, National Religious Partnership for the Environment (NRPE), Passionist Solidarity Network, Plainsong Farm, Presbyterian Church (USA), Reformed Church of America, Unitarian Universalists for Social Justice, and the United Church of Christ.

Highlights from the gatherings, held in four cities, are available to watch in the video below.
