ABNS: ABCUSA and DCBC to Host The Power of Sisterhood Luncheon

American Baptist Churches USA Office of the General Secretary and District of Columbia Baptist Convention to Host The Power of Sisterhood Luncheon 

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (ABNS 10/7/25)The American Baptist Churches USA Office of the General Secretary, in partnership with the District of Columbia Baptist Convention (DCBC), will host a luncheon event, The Power of Sisterhood, on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the historic Baptist Building, 1628 16th St NW, Washington, DC 20009.

 

This gathering will be co-hosted by DCBC, bringing together women serving in ministry across the American Baptist family to celebrate, strengthen, and support one another. The event will feature keynote addresses from Rev. Dr. Zina Jacque, Interim Pastor at Broadneck Baptist Church, and Rev. Dr. Cheryl Price, Publisher of Judson Press, highlighting the gifts and voices of women in ministry.

“This gathering is not simply about sharing a meal, but about lifting each other up, celebrating the power of sisterhood, and ensuring that women’s voices and stories are seen, heard, and valued,” said Rev. Dr. Patricia Hernandez, Associate General Secretary for Women in Ministry and Transition Ministries. “Together, we are building a future where women in ministry are not only visible, but vital.”

 

“We are excited to gather to share the strength in our sisterhood, the support in journeying together and the witness of God’s movement in our lives. The Power of Sisterhood Luncheon will be followed by a celebration of Women’s History Month in our March series, Joy of the Journey, a weekly webinar series occurring each Tuesday in March 2026 at 8:00 p.m., where women will share their journeys and join together in a time of discussion. ABCUSA is blessed to provide scholarships for seminary students to attend the luncheon event,” said Rev. Dr. Gina Jacobs-Strain, General Secretary of American Baptist Churches USA. 

 

“DCBC has been a pioneer in supporting women at all levels of ministry in Baptist life. We are delighted to welcome women to the Baptist Building to celebrate our sisterhood,” said Rev. Dr. Trisha Miller Manarin, Executive Director/Minister of DCBC.

 

A sponsor for this event is the Bradeen/Narowitz Endowment, honoring the legacy of Rev. Dr. Cathleen Narowitz.

Speakers:


Rev. Dr. Zina Jacque is a distinguished pastor and leader whose career spans higher education, nonprofit service, and parish ministry. She has served in diverse contexts, including as senior pastor of the Community Church of Barrington, and as the first Executive Director of the Boston Ten Point Coalition. A mentor to women pastors and consultant to churches and nonprofits, she continues to foster inclusion, belonging, and faithful leadership. Dr. Jacque also shares daily Lenten meditations on her YouTube channel, blending scripture and poetry to encourage spiritual growth.

 

Rev. Dr. Cheryl Price serves as publisher of Judson Press, where she works to amplify diverse voices and create resources that equip faith communities for justice, discipleship, and spiritual formation. An ordained minister and educator, she has served congregations across the United States, taught at seminaries, and led Christian education programs. She brings deep experience as a preacher, teacher, and author, and her leadership at Judson Press continues to expand opportunities for writers and readers to engage in transformative dialogue and ministry.
