Light a Candle for Climate Justice!

Candles for COP29

Join us for a nationwide vigil to demand climate action during COP29. From November 15–17, 2024, Canadians will gather to light candles and express their concerns about the climate crisis.

How to get involved:
  1. Find an event: Check the For the Love of Creation event map to see if there's a vigil near you.
  2. Host an event: Organize a vigil in your community and add it to the map.
  3. Spread the word: Share this event with your friends and family.

Together, we can make a difference. Let's light up Canada for climate justice!

Mission and Service Stories: Overcoming Obstacles

Sue, a 61-year-old woman, has faced a lifetime of challenges, including addiction, homelessness, and chronic pain. Despite these obstacles, she has found hope and support at Wesley, a Mission and Service partner. As part of a broader effort in Hamilton to address homelessness and substance use, Wesley helps people who are struggling with multiple substance use to slowly reduce their drug use with the help of prescribed medications and staff support.

Your gifts through Mission and Service help support people like Sue on her ongoing journey to build a better future for herself and her children. Thank you for your continued support.

Get Ready for Advent!

Advent Unwrapped Logo

Make Space for Grace this Advent!  Advent —a holy, four-week countdown to Jesus’ birthday—begins on Sunday, December 1! Prepare to make room for Christ and the radical, countercultural messages that Christ brings with us this Advent.

This year’s Advent Unwrapped is excited to share fresh liturgies, family resources, spiritual practices, videos, and musical resources intended to help individuals of all ages engage in Advent while supporting the growth of accessible worship, written by members of The United Church Disability and Accessibility Network. These resources not only celebrate December 3rd as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, but also weave anti-ableist themes into the whole season of Advent in practical ways for all ages.

Visit Advent Unwrapped for new resources, and the Advent and Christmas worship pages for beloved past resources. Follow the Advent Unwrapped Facebook page and subscribe to the newsletter for regular updates.

We hope that this year’s Advent Unwrapped offerings will be nourishing (while of course providing some comfort, challenge, and joy).
