Retirement Celebration for Rev. David Walker

Dear Family, Friends & Colleagues:

It is with both gladness and sadness that we the congregation of Greater St. James AME Church in Thomson, Georgia invites you to join us in the celebration of a milestone reached by our pastor. After fifty-seven (57) years in the preaching and pastoral ministry, Rev. Walker will be retiring in April 2024. He will be honored by family and friends on March 2, 2024, at 1:00 PM, at the Church of God, 441 Jackson Street, Thomson, GA. Presiding Prelate and former classmate, Bishop Reginald T. Jackson will deliver the spoken word. Rev. Walker currently serves in the 6th Episcopal District, Augusta North District, and for the past forty-two (42) years in the Augusta Conference, and the past fourteen years at Greater St James Church in Thomson, GA. Prior to that Rev. Walker served several years in the 7th Episcopal District. This celebration will not only recognize his service as an effective pastor, but also his community service as President of the McDuffie County Branch NAACP, Co-Administrator of GA State Conference NAACP, and a Member of the National Board of Directors NAACP.

To honor this momentous occasion, we are in the process of developing a book of memories. A Souvenir Book commemoration the event will provide you with an excellent opportunity to show your support for the wonderful ministry of Rev. David Walker for his work for God. You may also use this opportunity to promote your business, church, or other interest. Proceeds from the souvenir booklet will also help support his scholarship fund. If you just want to make a contribution, make check payable to: Rev. David Walker or cash app $revdavidwalker, and mail to P. O. Box 1725, Thomson, GA 30824.
