Dear Friends: After generations of hosting clubbies and mountain circle dances, Montreat's Barn needs an update. While the feel, ambiance, and experience of the Barn are timeless, generations of bounding feet and even roller skate wheels have taken their toll. To preserve this important facility, we are proceeding with a renovation to sustain its character for generations to come. (That’s right: we want to renovate the Barn so that it will continue to be exactly what it is!) Planned updates intend to maintain the familiar feeling of the Barn while making it more comfortable and accessible. This work includes: - Better lighting, an improved sound system, and a new stage.
- Updated windows, doors, and ventilation to take the edge off the temperature on warm summer nights.
- Renovated, more accessible bathrooms.
- Expanded storage facilities for the Clubs program.
- Improvements outdoors, including an accessible parking pad added to the drop-off area and better lighting; and
- Infrastructure updates and repairs throughout.
Montreat is grateful for the generosity of lead donors Trish and Eddie Edwards of Chapin, SC, whose support has enabled the conference center to plan for and begin this important project. Other donors have joined in the cause, and we give thanks for their incredible generosity. If you would like to join this effort by making your own gift, you can do so by clicking here where you can give in memory or honor of someone or you can email our office at development@montreat.org. No matter what your own fond memories of the Barn may be, please consider making a gift to help ensure this iconic building serves Montreaters far into the future. And when you next enter the Barn, our hope is that the building will feel just as it always has, but a bit more comfortable, welcoming, and sustainable for the next 50 years. Thank you! |
