TCR Breaking News: Bethel AME Church, Camden destroyed by fire
On Sunday, January 22, 2023, Bethel AME Church (Pastor Carl Green, Sr.) in the Camden District of the Southwest Alabama Conference in the Ninth Episcopal District was destroyed by a fire. Praise the Lord, no one was inside the church building when the fire erupted. Unfortunately, the church has no insurance, as the previous policy was canceled.
It is at times like these that we recall the mission of the AME Church, which is to minister to the social, spiritual, and physical development of all people. The Connectional Church’s vision of carrying out the spirit of the original Free African Society includes serving the needy. Jesus calls us to do the same.
The 9th Episcopal District is doing its best to assist those affected by unfortunate circumstances. The pastor and members of Bethel AME-Camden are in great distress over this loss. I am reaching out to the Connectional Church to help us in this effort to help Bethel AME Camden rebuild its church in this time of great need.
