WCC NEWS: WCC, Muslim World League and The Foundation Dialogue for Peace meet at Bossey Ecumenical Institute

World Council of Churches acting general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Ioan Sauca met with Dr Muhammad Bin Abulkarim Al-Issa, secretary general of the Mecca-based Muslim World League and Aamir Javed Sheikh, head of the Norway-based Foundation Dialogue for Peace, at the Bossey Ecumenical Institute on 31 August.

Small delegations from each organization discussed a wide range of topics, from challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic, to the interreligious summer school in Bossey, to the imperative of further strengthening interreligious cooperation.

Both Sauca and Al-Issa received a Bridge Builder Award in 2021 for their work on interreligious cooperation in the interests of peace, along with His Excellency Chief Rabbi Michael Melchior of the Religious Peace Initiative.
