The online event will be held under the theme “After darkness, light comes – Revive, Restore, Redeem.”

In his greeting, Sauca brings best wishes and reflects on the theme of the gathering. “I pray that the PROK will continue to envisage the future in a spirit of hope, trusting in God’s faithfulness and to shape the service to the people of the world, committing yourself to God’s mission of love to the world,” says Sauca. “The PROK has been a prophetic voice for democratization, human rights and reunification, protesting courageously against military dictatorship.”

The PROK has also developed an enduring commitment to ecumenism with strong partnerships with many churches around the world, Sauca continues. “I am extremely grateful that the people and leaders of the PROK gathered for a prayer in front of the Myanmar embassy in Seoul on 18 March 2021, expressing solidarity with the people of Myanmar and calling for restoration of democracy and peace in Myanmar,” he says. “As a fellowship, the World Council of Churches stands in solidarity with the churches in the PROK and with all who strive for justice and peace.”

Sauca added that he looks forward to continuing to work with the PROK to develop a prophetic stance in the midst of this new crisis. “I pray that your reflections and deliberations during the 106th General Assembly of the PROK be enlightened and blessed by the Holy Spirit,” he said.
