Lights Around Lake Susan

Montreat Conference Center
Arts, Music & Theology Special Event
Wednesday, July 7, 9 pm around Lake Susan

Together Around the Lake: Remembering the 3.9 Million Who Have Died: A Candlelight Service of Prayer and Song, Remembering Those Who Have Died from Covid-19 Here and Around the World.
This special event is free and open to the public!

In preparation for our community service of remembrance, our Montreat community has created and will install 393 lanterns around the lake. The lanterns will be lit at 7:00 pm and the service of music and prayer will begin at 9:00 pm as the sun goes down. As you arrive, you will be invited to hold a candle and encircle the lake. Each lantern will stand in memory of 10,000 people who have died worldwide.

The lantern project is an intergenerational community art installation. We have worked with preschoolers to adults to create lanterns of remembrance, full of color and light.
And don't miss Tuesday's event (tomorrow July 6):

“In Memory of Dr. Jim (Jimbo) Bryan: A Celebration of Life” - Dr. Henry Wilde and Richard DuBose followed by “Anatomy of a Supreme Court Case Affecting Many” - Jim Hamilton

In Assembly's Inn Convocation Hall.
