UC National News 9-15 June - Six Weeks Dwelling in Prayer, Being Young, Inspired Preaching and more

Six weeks of Dwelling in Prayer

With just six weeks before the 16th Assembly, Uniting Church members across the country are invited to join together in prayer. Each week a new prayer will be offered, often in languages other than English.

In our Week 1 Prayer, President-elect Rev Sharon Hollis leads us into prayer for all who are preparing for the 16th Assembly and all its members as they seek to become a community of discernment - wise, open, curious and alert to the movement of the Spirit.

Being Young and Christian

From its inauguration the Uniting Church has affirmed the gifts and voices of young people shaping our life and mission.
As we finish our series reflecting on what makes up the Identity of the Uniting Church, we share this story from New Times magazine, written by UCA President Dr Deidre Palmer on her conversations around the country with young people in the Uniting Church about what the UCA means to them.

Inspired preaching

Close to 300 people from around the country delved into what makes inspired and creative preaching as part of the inaugural PreachFest held from 1-3 June. Watch the sermon shared by Assembly National Consultant Rev Charissa Suli on what it means to preach the Good News when your heart is full of fear or grief.

Lessons from COVID-19 for the Climate Emergency

A new resource from the Synod of South Australia explores connections between two crises that have and continue to pose drastic change and threat to life on earth: the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change. It includes a series of videos with questions for discussion.
