January in Montreat

News Corner

Many thanks to everyone who has offered prayers and support in the wake of Hurricane Helene! We continue to make good progress toward restoration efforts, with things starting to feel a little more "normal" each day. You can find various status updates and information about hurricane relief efforts on our website.

Speaking of recovery efforts, tomorrow we will welcome participants of College Conference @ Montreat for our first event post-Helene! While here, these students will participate in worship, critical conversation, and various mission opportunities.

Later this month, we will welcome 80 young adults to Montreat for The Manna Retreat, a three-day gathering for 22-32-year-olds in Assembly Inn. This will be the third installment of the retreat, which focuses on providing spiritual nourishment and connection. Registration is still open!

We are currently accepting applications for Summer Staff! If you know a young adult looking for a summer job, we are looking to fill over 100 seasonal roles. Apply early for top consideration! Job descriptions and additional information can be found on our website.

Last month, we announced that author and professor Amy-Jill Levine will be joining us for this year's Women's Connection conference. Amy-Jill is the author of The Misunderstood Jew: The Church and the Scandal of the Jewish Jesus and Short Stories by Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi, among others. Comprehensive registration for this event will open on February 3, and commuter registration will open on February 10. Learn more.

Have you considered serving on a conference planning team? We are still accepting applications from both youth and adults to serve on 2026 Planning Teams for Montreat Youth Conference and Middle School Conference. Learn more about this special leadership opportunity here.

While restoration efforts are ongoing, many trails and recreation spaces on our campus remain closed. For a list of open trails, please visit our hiking webpage. We kindly ask that individuals refrain from hiking on trails that remain closed, both due to safety concerns and specific conservation needs. Read more.

Moore Center is open for business! The Huckleberry has returned to its regular hours and is open Tues.-Fri. 8:00 am-3:00 pm, Sat. 8:00 am-6:00 pm, and is closed on Sunday and Monday. View the menu here. Meanwhile, The Montreat Store is also open with its hours being Mon.-Sat. 10:00 am-5:00 pm. Have a question about purchasing an item? Call the store at 828.669.5298.

Discovering Renewal

August 30-November 1, 2024

Need a break from it all? Discovering Renewal is our answer to the rampant burnout so many church professionals experience - especially after a busy Lenten season. During this retreat, participants are invited to find time for rest and reflection through activities like hiking, fishing, drawing, board games, and more. Author Brian McLaren (pictured on left) will support these efforts, offering daily devotions and sharing various spiritual practices.

Explore all available track options or register today on our website.

Montreat Moment

After removing nearly 24,000 cubic yards of mud, silt, and debris over the last six weeks, our renovation of Lake Susan is nearly complete! Thank you to those who have been following our restoration journey on Instagram or Facebook. There will be plenty more pictures of this iconic Montreat landmark coming to your feed in the future!

Thank you Montreat Donors!

After an unprecedented few months, we are so grateful for everyone that has made generous gifts to support Montreat!

The Montreat Fund ended the year strong and is moving into the last few months of the fiscal year. If you haven't already made your gift to the Montreat Fund this fiscal year, there is still time as our fiscal year ends on April 30th. Consider adding Montreat to your yearly giving plan.

The Hurricane Helene Relief Fund received a strong initial response from those within the Montreat community and beyond and continues to grow. These funds will directly impact our ability to restore facilities and return to normal programming in the new year. Thank you to everyone who made a gift to our Hurricane Helene Relief Fund!
