The Christian Recorder - Bishop Francine Brookins Becomes Chair of the Pan-Methodist Commission

On March 16, 2024, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Bishop Francine A. Brookins was elected to a two-year term as Chair of the Pan-Methodist Commission. She becomes the first AME BIshop to chair the Commission since Bishop Jackson from 2014 to 2016.

Founded in 1986, this body serves as a space for dialogue between the United Methodist and African Methodist Episcopal, African Methodist Episcopal Zion, Christian Methodist Episcopal, Union American Methodist Episcopal, and First African Union Methodist Protestant Churches towards mutual cooperation and understanding given past historic grievances. Such cooperation includes evangelism, missions, publications, social concerns, and higher education.
