E-ssentials: Wishing you a Blessed Holy Week and Easter

Holy Week and Easter Blessings

Happy Holy Week

Heavenly Creator, fill us with your Spirit.
To be filled with your love, to seek justice in common, to seek justice for the whole.
As co-creators we pray to create a world of equity, diversity, and anti-oppression.
Let us know the world through the all-encompassing,
wholesome love you have shown.
Show us your love and your grace in each other.
Let us know and experience the love of the Holy Spirit in each other,
in everything and everyone.
Amen

—Easter Sunday prayer from Act/Fast: Spiritual Practices for Climate in Crisis, contributed by Thea Sheridan-Jonah (UCPH, 2023)

Moderator Visits Global Partners and Projects in Zambia and Kenya

Dr. Emily Sikazwe and Dr. Mwiche Zulu wrap the Moderator in a beautiful cloth gifted to her.

Moderator Carmen Lansdowne and Church in Mission Executive Minister the Rev. Dr. Japhet Ndhlovu are on a two-week visit to global partners and projects in Zambia and Kenya. The visit in Zambia included a partner round table with the Council of Churches in Zambia and visits with People’s Action Forum, Women for Change, and the United Church of Zambia University (UCZU). As with Canadian congregations, the Moderator encouraged global partners with a message of flourishing, urging them to celebrate being alive even when they feel challenged. Read the full news story.

Your Mission and Service Stories: An Easter Message on Education

Over the past few months, we have shared stories centred on traditional and non-traditional education. Mission and Service recognizes the profound connection between the Resurrection story and the transformative potential of education

Mission and Service is helping others to learn, supporting education in Canada and around the world. Education can be transforming and, in some cases, life saving. This Easter, help your neighbours both in Canada and globally. Give a gift to support education.

Resources for the Easter season, along with lots of other Mission and Service material, are available on the Mission and Service in Worship webpage.
