”The World Council of Churches appreciates the work of the Global Christian Forum over the years since its inception and, with great, joy renewed its memorandum of understanding with the forum,” said WCC general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay. “We look forward to our continued work together in a world riddled with conflict and suffering.” Wesley Granberg-Michaelson, president of the Global Christian Forum Foundation, expressed his support for the renewed contract with Essamuah. “Casely Essamuah is a gift, not only to the Global Christian Forum, but to the growing diversity of the world’s Christian community,” said Granberg-Michaelson. “He embodies the spirit of Christ’s reconciling love which tears down walls and reveals the reality of our belonging to one another as parts of one body.” Essamuah said he was humbled to be invited to continue his service as Global Christian Forum secretary. “It is indeed an honor of a lifetime and the strong affirmation is also a demonstration of our united desire to deepen the bonds that we all have as followers of Christ,” said Essamuah. “In the coming months, we redouble our efforts in ensuring that the fourth global gathering to be held in Ghana April 2024 is a place where these relationships are nurtured and strengthened.” The Global Christian Forum is a platform wherein representatives from a broad range of Christian churches and inter-church organizations can gather to foster mutual respect and to explore and address together common challenges. It aims to deepen fraternal relationships among Christians that may lead to common witness and shared participation in mission. One of its distinctive marks is the practice of sharing personal and ecclesial faith stories. The World Council of Churches, together with the Roman Catholic Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity, World Evangelical Alliance, and the Pentecostal World Fellowship, supports the work of the Global Christian Forum. |
