The United Church of Canada General Council Executive, its corresponding members, and the members of the National Indigenous Council have issued a plea to Prime Minister Trudeau to advocate for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war, recognizing that, in the view of legal experts, genocide is currently taking place.

Mission and Service Stories: What Did Jesus Do?

Northern Lights and Church Cross

The question “What would Jesus do?”—often shortened to the acronym “WWJD?”—has graced wrist bands, T-shirts, and bumper stickers since the 1990s. And while it might sound like an overused cliché, it’s a question that can lead our spirit and, by extension, our lives to profound transformation.

Giving Tuesday Is November 28!

Giving Tuesday: After the headlines fade the emergency remains. Hands holding.

Giving Tuesday is happening on November 28, 2023.

This year, The United Church of Canada is focusing on the Emergency Response efforts that are so vitally needed worldwide. While headlines about emergencies come and go, the ones suffering, the children and families, remain in critical need. The results of the conflict, such as the one in Israel and Palestine, will be with us for years, resulting in a Middle East humanitarian crisis.

Each person—facing the worst times of their lives—urgently needs your support.

Giving Tuesday itself is next week, but it’s never too early to transform a life.

If you are able, we urge you to give now to empower lives and give to emergency response efforts.
