September in Montreat

News Corner

Housing registration for 2024's Worship & Music Conference officially opened on September 1st! Hosted in partnership with the Presbyterian Association of Musicians, Worship & Music Conference consists of two identical weeks of programming - one during the week of June 16-21, 2024, and one during June 23-28, 2024. If you are interested in attending, go ahead and reserve your stay now. Then, get ready for conference registration to open on December 5, 2023! Find out more about this event on our website.

We regret that the Presbyterian Heritage Center's Missionary Summit, which was originally planned for September of 2023, has been rescheduled for September 2024. If you have any questions regarding the rescheduled conference, please contact the Presbyterian Heritage Center.

We love the beginning of September because it not only means that Autumn is on the way, it also means that Fall Craft Week is on the way! Limited spaces remain for this week-long conference (taking place September 24-29), so sign up soon if you would like to attend! Available workshop options include basket weaving, photography, creative writing, and wood working. Learn more.

Calling all churches that might be considered small (but that we know are definitely mighty)! Wee Kirk is a conference made specifically for leaders of small membership congregations. There, you will find support, inspiration, and encouragement from a community of leaders facing similar challenges, while also participating in workshop tracks based on your specific interests. Visit our website to explore all that this conference has to offer!

Acclaimed author John Philip Newell will return to Montreat this fall for not one, but two conference opportunities! Celtic Wisdom 2: Sacred Earth (Oct. 18-20) focuses on the teachings of Eriugena, the Carmina Gadelica, and John Muir. Meanwhile, Thresholds of Hope (Oct. 20-22) provides a more intimate space for participants to learn from John Philip while participating in his House Gatherings model. You can find out more or sign up for these conferences by visiting our website here.

Now is the time to start making your holiday plans! This year we will once again invite guests to join us for Thanksgiving at Montreat. You can choose to reserve a room in Assembly Inn between November 21-25, you can join us for lunch on Thanksgiving Day, or you can do both! Make a reservation by clicking here.

However, if you don't want to wait until Thanksgiving to make a visit to the mountains, then you should consider going on a Fall Sabbath Getaway! This is a special retreat offering that allows you to stay in Assembly Inn sans schedule. Come enjoy the beauty of fall in the mountains (leaf predictions are currently calling for a spectacular October!) while also finding time for prayer, reflection, and Sabbath rest. Learn more.

Make a visit to Moore Center! The Huckleberry's summer hours will conclude on Saturday, August 5. The Huckleberry will then be open Tues.-Thur. 8:00 am-3:00 pm, Fri.-Sat. 8:00 am-6:00 pm, and will be closed Sun.-Mon. View the menu here. Meanwhile, The Montreat Store is open Mon.-Sat. 10:00 am-5:00 pm. Have a question about purchasing an item? Call the store at 828.669.5298.

Now is the time to get in one last rock hopping session before cooler weather starts to roll in! There's nothing better than an afternoon spent by Flat Creek.

Sustain the Mission of Montreat Through Affordable, Monthly Gifts

No matter how you love Montreat, enjoying the babble of the creek while walking Elizabeth's Path, listening to speakers who broaden your understanding of God's Word in Anderson Auditorium, rocking in the chairs on The Huckleberry porch, the Montreat Fund is integral to every person's unique understanding of this place.

"We give monthly because it's an easy way to incorporate something we love and believe in into our budget. Sustaining the mission and ministry of Montreat is an ongoing and lifelong privilege." - Josh and Kaye Richard, Montreat Fund Patrons

Becoming a Patron can be as affordable as $25 a month or even $8.33 a month for Young Patrons (age 35 or younger). We hope all trail stompers, conference goers, and Huck lovers will consider becoming a Patron or Young Patron to support the Montreat experience for all.
