UC National News 26 May-1 June - NRW 2021 #morethanaword, Voices for Climate, Identity: Living in relationship and more

Moving from Safe to Brave

Today, as the nation marks "Sorry Day", we encourage you take part in National Reconciliation Week (NRW) from 27 May – 3 June.

We are reminded this week there is much work to be done to live out our covenant commitment and to walk in deeper relationship as First and Second Peoples.

This year's theme is "Reconciliation takes action" and we invite you to think about concrete actions you can take and to observe NRW in your worship. A resource has been prepared by the Synod of South Australia.

#Uniting4Climate

Uniting Church members added their voices to many thousands of students in rallies around the country last week supporting the global youth-led movement, Schools Strike 4 Climate, and calling for the care of all God's creation.

UCA in the 21st Century: History, Theology and Future

A new webinar series exploring the Uniting Church in the 21st Century will kick off with its first session tomorrow night, Thursday 27 May from 7:00-8:30pm AEST. The series will feed continuing conversation on becoming an intercultural, intergenerational, covenanting church, and is jointly hosted by the Being a Multicultural Church Circle and Assembly Resourcing Unit.  Register here.

Shared witness in a global communion

A key feature of the Identity of the Uniting Church in Australia is the desire for a shared witness, faith, and life with others. One expression of this global fellowship is the biennial meeting of the Methodist Consultative Council of the Pacific (MCCP) which took place from 18-20 May with Church leaders from across the region.

Let's Yarn About Identity

In recent weeks the Assembly has invited people to reflect on the Identity of the Uniting Church. Now you're invited to an online discussion to share your thoughts on what makes us who we are, including:

What the Uniting Church looks like from where I am standing?
What is the UCA identity we are reflecting into the public space?
How is the current context we are living in reshaping our identity?

Helping bring change to the most vulnerable

Read about how Uniting Church partners in Sri Lanka helped change Darshi’s life and are helping many more people with disabilities.  And how we can all help!

A cheer for the Frontier Services All Stars!

Four incredible volunteers have each raised almost $10,000 for Frontier Services as part of the Charity All-Stars TV project.
Once they hit the $10k mark they will be officially cast as an all-star on the global TV show and take on an adventure of a lifetime in a secret location filmed over 5 days!
