TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE ANNOUNCEMENT
The Training and Development Committee is sponsoring an in person educational event on Saturday September 19th from 10 - noon at Stone Presbyterian Church in Elk Grove WV. The name of the event is: “Everything you always wanted to know about livestreaming your service but were afraid to ask!”
The premise of this event is simple: Having a church presence on a social media platform is essential for the future life of the church.
If you want to livestream your service but don’t know how to get started, this event is for you. If you are currently livestreaming your service and want to know what others are doing, this event is for you. If you are livestreaming your service and everything is going perfectly, you are lying and this event is for you.
Presenters will be George Crawford, Jason Elliot and Robert Nagy. It would help if we had an idea of how many people will be attending so please call or email the Presbytery office or call Stone Church (304) 242-4610. We hope to see you on the 19th!
Peace Making Committee Announcement
On the first Sunday in October, which is the fourth, we will be able to give to the Peace and Global Witness Offering of our church. This is special because we can provide some help to all levels: local, synod, national, and international. 25% of this offering will be used locally; another 25% will go to the synod or mid council; the final 50% will go for work and reconciliation being done by Presbyterians nationally and around the world.
What are examples of this giving? One way would be to give to the Peace and Global Witness offering of our local church. 25% of that offering could go locally to food pantries and clothing places; supporting the unemployed; helping children with learning problems; tutoring kids at all levels. The next 25% of the offering for us will go to the synod or mid council of the Trinity, which includes all of Pennsylvania, part of Ohio, and the northern part of West Virginia. Then, as we said above, the final 50% will go to help persons nationally and internationally.
We need to be sure to do the following: Ask our sessions to take up the Peace and Justice Offering and to set dates for it. Ordinarily, this offering is taken up on the first Sunday in October. But, it can be taken up on another date. Then, this offering needs to be supported by the whole church.
May God bless you, as you give time to this worthy undertaking? For, God is a God of shalom, of true peace.
