Important Update on Session Minutes and Church Register Review Meeting

I have had a few recent emails about reading of the minutes so I am sending this as a friendly reminder. Churches please make sure your Clerks of Sessions have this information.

Reading of the Minutes is due 8 weeks from today! I am also including the most up to date Clerk of Session directory contact information. If you need anything else let me know!

Have a good day!

Clerks of Sessions of Upper Ohio Valley Presbytery

RE: reviewing session records

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ—Colleagues in ministry,

We have all been forced to adapt to the difficult situation created by the Covid-19 global pandemic.

Many of the congregations of Upper Ohio Valley Presbytery have suspended gathering for worship for a period of time, or have had to be creative about gathering. No doubt many sessions have either found work-arounds to gathering in person, or else may not have been able to meet. I’m sure this has put a strain on you as the clerk of your session.

The presbytery has needed to be adaptable and creative in fulfilling its ministry functions as well. This includes the role of pastoral accountability and connectionism represented by the review of session records. As you know, the gatherings for reading that normally would have happened in the spring were cancelled.

The outlook for gathering this fall is not any better. Therefore, I am cancelling the meetings that were scheduled for October.

Instead, I am asking you to partner with one or two neighboring clerks, exchange and read each other’s minutes and roll, and report the results to the presbyter by November 9th. Your reports will be recorded in the minutes of presbytery for 2020.

The Lord be with your spirit.

Rev. Dr. Franklin E. Lewis Stated Clerk
