Together March 2026

March 2026

Welcome

Welcome to the March 2026 edition of Together, the online newsletter of The Fellowship Community-- a network of churches and leaders committed to living and proclaiming the good news of Jesus by gathering, equipping and encouraging one another.

In Lent, we are on the journey to the cross that's marked by humility and surrender, reflection and anticipation. Within a few verses, Peter declares that Jesus is the Christ and then rebukes Jesus because he declares he will go to Jerusalem and suffer, die, and be raised to life on the third day (Matthew 16). Peter and the disciples were walking with Jesus, learning from him, becoming like him. One day Peter would fearlessly declare the "new birth" through Jesus and encourage early believers that "though they suffer grief in all kinds of trials" so that their faith "may be proved genuine." "Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your soul." (1 Peter 1).

The Christian life is a journey of becoming like Jesus for the sake of others. This is the journey and the hope of discipleship. That Jesus is doing something new in us now that will prepare us for the future. We rely on that hope for ministry in the Church. Our national gathering will focus on the hope that is ours in Jesus, and together we will be encouraged and equipped for the future work that is ahead.

Our registrations have outpaced our expectations! We have nearly 300 registered, including scholarships for over 25 missionaries, 45 small church pastors, 38 spouses, and 10 younger/future leaders. Our pastor pre-gathering has over 110 participants. We are expecting nearly two dozen exhibitors.

I am excited about our speakers because they align with the journey TFC has been on: gathering healthy leaders, identifying and nurturing younger/future leaders, and joining mission partners to inspire, mobilize and engage in God's mission. Drew, Kara, Scott, and Mark, along with our breakout leaders, will help us on that journey of hope and equipping for gospel ministry.

If you haven't yet registered, do it today! Invite friends, elders, colleagues to join us in Zionsville. Consider asking individuals or your session to give a special gift of scholarships for the national gathering. And pray for all who attend, speakers and leaders, the program team, and our host church, Zionsville Presbyterian Church.

An Invitation from Pakistan

Imagine a place in the very heart of the Muslim world where:

  • Hundreds of young Christians are equipped and sent out to be disciples and to make disciples,
  • Thousands of young women are empowered, given voice, and heard,
  • Over ten thousand Christian and Muslim students live together in an environment of dialogue and mutual respect.

That seemingly unimaginable place is Forman Christian College.

In February, I had the privilege of visiting campus with pastors Rich Kannwischer, Mike McClenahan, and Eric Hoey. Our purpose was to deepen collaboration between The Fellowship CommunityThe Outreach Foundation, and Friends of Forman Christian College—especially in light of recent shifts in denominational world mission strategy.

“I think this is a time where we can engage the world. God is doing so much in all different places in the world and specifically in Pakistan.” - Mike McClenahan

I gotta tell you, it’s so amazing… I’ve known about Forman for a long time. I had no appreciation for how much scope of the gospel is here.” - Rich Kannwischer

“Forman Christian College is changing the world one student at a time.” - Eric Hoey

We returned with renewed hope and concrete ideas for engaging our churches

In the End

I almost always write these at the first of the month, but now deep in Lent I looked up and realized I missed even the Ides of March! I’m writing this on March 16. Since the United States and Israel started a war with Iran three weeks ago, there have also been bombings in Lebanon (very extensive), UAE and Jordan, and against U.S. military bases in Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The Middle East is in flames, the Strait of Hormuz is blocked with burnings ships, cities are reduced to rubble with thousands dead (including civilians and some U.S. servicemen), and millions are displaced. It’s inevitable that along with these catastrophes there would be certain (why are they almost always American?) Christians who would trot out tired biblical calculations and predict that we are now in the end times. Once again, all the data points have been fed into one big soup of timelines and maps and come out the other side identifying the present day with the Armageddon of Revelation. Current nations have been exactly identified with biblical actors, and it is all honed down to a date. A day. The last day. Even as I write this, there are Christian “influencers” trotting out their guesses to their eager followers, dredging up the rapture they will enjoy while others will not.

TFC Board member Dan Baumgartner encourages us to stick with Jesus amid uncertain times.
