RNS Morning Report - In Minneapolis, George Floyd-era faith networks reignite after Renee Good's killing by ICE
MINNEAPOLIS (RNS) — The faith-based networks, which developed organizing infrastructure and relationships during the Floyd era, are joined by newcomers as resistance efforts have intensified since Good’s shooting.
(RNS) — 'A system that relies on fear, force and death to manage human beings is not broken at the edges. It is broken and rotten at the core,' the Rev. Abhi Janamanchi said. 'Stop excusing violence. Start protecting life. Abolish ICE.'
VATICAN CITY (RNS) — Pope Leo XIV announced plans for a second consistory in June, and pledged to hold such meetings annually — a move widely seen as signaling a more collegial and consultative style of leadership at the Vatican.
WASHINGTON (RNS) — ‘Those of us who are people of faith need to lead the way in helping the nation to understand that meeting people’s physical needs is a spiritual project,’ he said.
