Montreat's 2024 Annual Report is Now Available!

Montreat's 2024 Annual Report is Now Available!

Released in conjunction with the end of our fiscal year, our 2024 Annual Report highlights many important "Montreat Moments" which capture the spirit and impact of our ministry throughout the past year. In addition to detailing the effects of Hurricane Helene and ongoing recovery efforts, the report includes a letter from President Richard DuBose, reflecting on the year’s challenges and triumphs, as well as a moving piece about international pastors finding renewal and connection during their time at Montreat.

Most of all, the report serves as an opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks for all that you have made possible over the last year. Your generosity has had an immediate impact and will continue to support and strengthen our work for years to come.

Montreat Moments That Made 2024 Special

Retreat Introduces New Ways to Explore Sabbath

Meeting for the third time in 2024, Discovering Renewal engaged participants in various activity tracks to help them find spiritual renewal in the mundane. Montreat introduced board game and Sabbath tracks in 2024, with baking, contemplation, and mixed track options added in 2025.

The Barn Finds New Life

Montreat's longest serving recreational facility, "The Barn," underwent a series of physical upgrades in 2024. First, upgrades were made to the foundation, windows, sound system, and bathrooms, all while maintaining the overall aesthetic. Following Hurricane Helene, additional renovations were completed, including a new floor, to ensure The Barn would be ready to welcome guests this summer!

Lake Susan is Dredged and Renovated

In October of 2023, we announced that Lake Susan would be dredged thanks to a special grant from the State of North Carolina. Following additional damage incurred during Hurricane Helene, we began the lake renovation project in 2024 and subsequently removed a total of 24,000 cubic yards of debris from the lakebed.

A Record Number of New Donors Support Montreat

In response to the impact of Hurricane Helene, thousands of supporters made gifts to the Montreat Fund and our Hurricane Helene Relief fund. Of those supporters, over 1,500 made a gift to Montreat for the first time.

Summer Staff Leave Their Mark

Many of our summer programs saw a continued increase in participation in 2024, with 118 dedicated Summer Staff playing a key role in welcoming guests and supporting transformational experiences. Their hard work and commitment were instrumental in making the summer truly special.
