E-ssentials: Inviting Conversation Toward 2035, Centennial Worship Service Livestream, and more!

Inviting Conversation Toward 2035

The United Church of Canada has unveiled an inspiring new initiative, "Toward 2035," as part of its centennial celebrations. This forward-looking vision aims to honour the legacy of past generations while charting a bold path for the future.

In an open letter, Rev. Michael Blair, General Secretary, emphasized the importance of this moment for reflection and imagination. Approved by the General Council Executive, the initiative began with data-informed discussions among church leaders in late 2024. Read the full news story and the open letter from Rev. Michael Blair.

2025 Northern Pastors Retreat – Give Healing and Respite

In 2024 United Church members supported the first retreat for our Northern Manitoba and Ontario ministers. This was a desperately needed respite from the crisis facing their communities. These ministers are facing spiralling mental health and addiction issues leading to increasing numbers of deaths, primarily among the youth.

The crisis is ongoing and the need for support is still there. In September of 2025 a second retreat is planned to once again offer support, counselling, training, and respite to our northern church leaders. Your support will be essential in helping this to take place.

Donations, whether from individuals or from Communities of Faith, will allow these minsters to travel to the retreat, some from thousands of kilometers away. Your compassion will bring rest, healing and allow them to return to their communities able to provide the support and comfort needed. Make a gift today

MooseHide Campaign Day is May 15

Thursday, May 15 is Moosehide Campaign Day. Moose Hide Campaign Day is a day of ceremony where all Canadians are called to join together to take a stand against violence towards women and children and to take practical steps for our collective journey of reconciliation.

Last year over half-a-million Canadians joined the Moose Hide Campaign Day! This participation showcased the many communities and individuals who are taking a stand to end gender-based violence in Canada. Together, we are making a change!
