January in Montreat

News Corner

On Tuesday we welcomed roughly 600 college students to College Conference @ Montreat! Over the next few days, they will hear from Rev. Theresa Cho, Rev. Dr. Teri McDowell Ott, Cole Arthur Riley, and others as they explore the theme "Necessary Risks."

Small Group Leader applications for both Montreat Youth Conference and Middle School Conference are now open! If you want to make a difference in the lives of our young people, consider participating in this special volunteer opportunity. Read answers to commonly asked questions (and learn about special perks) here or submit an application on our website.

There are just a few weeks left to register for The Manna Retreat. This weekend getaway invites young adults (roughly age 22-35) to engage spiritually through worship, small group sessions, and more as a way to make new friends and nourish their faith. If your congregation has a young adult ministry, invite them to attend! Learn more.

Now is the time to apply for Summer Staff at Montreat! We have a wide variety of positions available - all of which are paid and include the option to live on-site. We encourage all who are interested to apply before the priority deadline on January 15, 2024. All applications received after January 15th will be considered on a rolling basis. Find out more or submit an application here.

The Arts, Recreation, and Worship Conference, hosted in partnership with Re:Create, is returning this May! During this conference, participants will experience recreation, worship, community, and the arts in new and creative ways. And, once you have experienced it for yourself, you are encouraged to take these forms of creative community and worship home to implement in your own congregations. Learn more here.

Later this month, we will announce our keynote leader for the 2024 Women's Connection conference. Be on the lookout for more information or sign up for email alerts on our website.

Calling all ringers, singers, instrumentalists, and more! Registration is currently open for 2024's Worship & Music Conference. This intergenerational conference welcomes all to explore the impact that engaging worship experiences can have through a variety of music ensembles and workshops. Please note that conference registration is completed through the Presbyterian Association of Musicians website and housing reservations are made on Montreat's website.

Make a visit to Moore Center! The Huckleberry is open Tues.-Thur. 8:00 am-3:00 pm, Fri.-Sat. 8:00 am-6:00 pm, and is closed Sun.-Mon. View the menu here. Meanwhile, The Montreat Store is open Mon.-Sat. 10:00 am-5:00 pm. Have a question about purchasing an item? Call the store at 828.669.5298.

Discovering Renewal

April 2-5, 2024

Go ahead and set aside time to recharge after Lent and Easter!

Discovering Renewal is our way of encouraging people to embrace periods of rest and focus on the present. Through simple, everyday spiritual practices, participants will stretch their literal and figurative muscles so that we might discover the renewal Sabbath time offers. Available track options include: art, hiking, yoga, tabletop gaming, and fly fishing. This year we are also including a "Sabbath track" which allows you to participate in worship and evening events, but does not include any structured events during the day. Find out more using the link below!

Montreat Moment

We have not had any snow yet this season (other than the occasional flurry here and there). However, that doesn't stop us from dreaming about a winter wonderland in Montreat! Pictured above is a snowy day from January 2020.

Thank You for Supporting Montreat!

We are so grateful to everyone who supported Montreat Conference Center in 2023! Every gift that is made makes a difference in creating memories in this special place. In addition to the thousand-plus families and individuals who give to Montreat, we appreciate the churches that prioritize Montreat by becoming Church Patrons. We look forward to 2024 and seeing what God’s transforming power will bring to this valley. THANK YOU for being part of our ministry!
