The central committee noted that it “appreciates the general secretary’s commitment, and intentional approach to nurturing relations in the fellowship, in calling member churches to be in contact with him directly to discuss their situation, rather than remain silent on the reason for membership contributions unpaid.”
The central committee also required that, in future reports, significant issues concerning financial reporting, internal controls, accountability, and compliance with laws and regulations, and income-generating projects also include those matters decided upon by recommendation of both the programme sub-committee and the finance sub-committee. The governing body also discussed the Green Village, discussing ways in which to gain clarity on what may be owned by the WCC in the future, and reviewed sales and decisions taken on plots. “In conclusion, at the end of the sales process, WCC will own the Ecumenical Centre, as well as either one or two additional buildings, being Lima and possibly Rio. It will also own a substantial and proportionate share of the gardens,” reads the report. In summary, the governing body approved a financial strategy for 2023-2030.
