UC National News 25-31 August - Season of Creation, United for Afghan Refugees, Our Vision for a Just Australia in 2 minutes and more

Season of Creation 2021

UCA President Rev Sharon Hollis has shared a video message inviting Uniting Church congregations to participate in the Season of Creation from 1 September to 4 October.

During September, Christians around the world take part in acts of worship and action focused on how we live in relationship with and care for God’s creation.

“The season of creation is an invitation to look closely at creation, to see and know that all creation is part of the oikos, the household of God,” says Rev Hollis.

Christians speak boldly for Afghanistan refugees

Christian leaders and organisations across the country have issued a joint call to the Australian Government to do more to provide safety for refugees from Afghanistan.
Launched today, the Christians United for Afghanistan campaign calls on the Government to welcome an intake of an additional 20,000 Afghan refugees and to further support the well-being of people from Afghanistan living in Australia.

What is an Intergenerational Church?

The future of our church depends on our ability to enable all generations within the Church to engage in decision-making, to offer leadership and to shape missional activities, writes Assembly National Consultant Rev Lindsay Cullen. We share the thread from one of our Circles conversations on how to encourage and allow space for younger people on our Church councils.
