National Day of Prayer amid COVID

UCA President Rev Sharon Hollis is encouraging Uniting Church members to join in prayer with other churches as COVID-19 continues to take a heavy toll on the world. The President has shared a prayer for UCA members to use in their worship on 22 August. Other prayers will be shared during the week of 16-22 August.

“We draw together with churches across the country and the world, united as the Body of Christ, and reminded of a God of love who cares for us all.”

Young people speak

It is one of the markers of an Intergenerational church and community that it lives open and ready to hear how the Spirit is speaking through its young people. As we continue our series on being an Integenerational Church, we look at some of the feedback from young UCA members over this past triennium including their hopes and vision for the Uniting Church. 

Urgent action needed for ‘code red’ warning

A new report from the United Nations global body on climate science is a “code red for humanity”. Responding to the report, Assembly General Secretary Rob Floyd said the message was clear - Australia and the world must take urgent action by 2030 if we are to avoid these increasing dramatic impacts across the globe.

Child Safe Week: 5-11 September

Save the date for UCA Child Safe Week and Child Safe Sunday from 5-11 September. All churches are invited to take part. Keep an eye out in coming weeks for worship resources, children's art activities and an online forum jointly hosted by the Safe Church Unit and UCA Redress Ltd.

Pray for Lebanon

Please hold in your prayers the people of Lebanon and UCA members with family in Lebanon, as the nation struggles through one of the world’s worst financial crises in more than a century.

ICYMI: President Rev Sharon Hollis delivered a powerful sermon at her Installation Service of Worship on the 16th Assembly theme Dwelling in Love.

Mental health: Does religion/spirituality help or hinder?

This was the key question explored in a forum hosted last month by Rev Dr (Deacon) Andy Calder from the VIC/TAS Synod equipping Leadership for Mission Unit (eLM). The keynote presenter was John Swinton, Professor in Practical Theology and Pastoral Care at the University of Aberdeen.
