Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise
The United Church of Canada has been advocating for a Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise (CORE) "with teeth" for years. Yet, as this news report shows, the Canadian government caved to mining industry pressure and ignored and kept secret its own report showing how to empower the Ombudsperson with the tools it needs to be effective.
Join our partner, the Canadian Network on Corporate Accountability, in taking action now! Tell the government that a powerless CORE is unacceptable and that impacted communities can wait no longer for access to justice. You can also share this prayer on your social media channels.

Stories of Our Faith: Mission & Service Is Faith on the Move
You may have purchased the new Lenten devotional Faith on the Move, or perhaps you're taking part in the online study series (you can still join in, by the way!). The development of resources like these are partially subsidized through Mission & Service so that they can be offered at a reasonable cost and in many cases, no cost. It’s no coincidence that we are studying being “on the move.” Not only is our faith always in transition, but the United Church literally reaches out to people on the move; we advocate for refugees, migrant workers, those who are homeless, and many other marginalized groups.
