UC National News - 27-30 Mar 2020 - Leaders' Prayers, Our new (Stay-at) Home page, Holy Communion Arrangements and more

Uniting in Prayer
In response to the COVID-19 crisis, President Deidre Palmer and the Moderators of the six UCA Synods have joined to offer a seven-day prayer cycle to the Church from this Sunday.
Dr Palmer has also issued new Pastoral Letter to the Church, praying that the time ahead will deepen our relationship with God and one another.
President Dr Deidre Palmer has written to the Prime Minister, Scott Morrison MP, seeking assurance that temporary visa holders and asylum seekers will not be left destitute in the COVID-19 crisis.

Arrangements for Holy Communion

The Assembly has received a number of requests to consider the possibility of Uniting Church congregations conducting Holy Communion online during this period of self-isolation and physical distancing.

The Assembly Standing Committee will make a decision by COB Friday 3 April 2020.

COVID-19 Resources Updated

We've refreshed the Assembly Home Page to reflect the many resources that people across our Church and beyond are sharing to enable us to be the body of Christ.
The resources are now curated into a number of categories: Pastoral, Prayers, Presence, Devotions, Hope, Streaming, Solidarity and Updates.
The Uniting Church in Australia Facebook page will host livestreamed worship from around the country from Palm Sunday. Watch the page for a trial run this Sunday from 8am AEDT when Assembly Consultant Rev Charissa Suli and her daughter, Children and Youth Ministry worker, Susitina lead devotions from their home in Oatley in Sydney.
After a decade at the helm, the General Secretary of the World Council of Churches says he firmly believes the church can change the world.
